An Xbox Celebrity Conversation After the Sony PS5 Announcement: How Microsoft is Getting More Out of the XBOX Leak?
A plan for an ambitious hybrid Xbox that could arrive in 2028 was revealed last night by the biggest XBOX leak in history. It also showed that one conversation from Phil Spencer, a joy to be with, was about the Sony PS5 announcement.
Inside the new Xbox Series X design Microsoft is also adding Wi-Fi 6E support, a Bluetooth 5.2 radio, and the company is shrinking the existing die to 6nm “for improve efficiency.” The PSU power will be reduced by 15 percent, according to Microsoft’s document. The Xbox Series X is scheduled to launch at a cost of $499.
The new controller will include an accelerometer to support gyros, and will be announced this year. It has a two tone color scheme and will support wireless communication via the cloud, as well as an updated Wireless 2 connection. Microsoft says that the controller’s specifications are also calledprecision haptic feedback and VCA double as speakers. It has a rechargeable and swappable battery, modular thumbsticks, and you can lift it up to wake it.
According to the former Xbox CVP, Elizabeth Hamren, Microsoft believed the Series X would have up to 30 percent more performance than the PS5.
Another previously redacted chunk: Microsoft admitted that PS5 might have a “long term” price advantage on expandable storage because Sony chose to use a standard M.2 NVMe SSD slot. The approach may provide price advantage in the long term.
Phil Spencer said that he was proud of the team after almost 12 hours of soaking in their unveil, taking apart their spec and looking at the community responses.
In a different document, Microsoft revealed that it planned to subsidize the Xbox Series X and S to the tune of $1.5 billion in 2021 to hit its price targets of $499 and $299, respectively. “That’s our largest hardware subsidy ever in the Gaming P&L,” the document reads.
