The Trial of Gwyneth Paltrow During a Skiing Event at Deer Valley Resort, Utah: “Distracted Skiers cause crashes”
The courtroom in Park City, UT was filled with a jury and opening statements were about to begin. Terry and her were both skiing on a Utah mountain in February 2016 when Terry alleges that she slammed into him and caused serious injuries.
In the court documents originally filed by Sanderson and obtained by CNN in 2019, Sanderson stated that while skiing at Deer Valley Resort, Paltrow allegedly “skied out of control … knocking him down hard, knocking him out, and causing a brain injury, and four broken ribs and other serious injuries.”
According to court documents, Sanderson amended his complaint and now wants in excess of $300,000 in damages.
The judge gave instructions to the jury and the lawyers for each side introduced themselves to the court before they began their opening statements.
Some of her family will testify at the trial, but it’s not clear if she will take the stand.
Lawrence Buhler, an attorney for Sanderson, began opening arguments stating, “Distracted skiers cause crashes. While skiing down the mountain, Gwyneth Paltrow knew that looking up to the side was dangerous.
Paltrow’s attorney Stephen Owens told the jury that Sanderson’s claims that the actress bolted from the mountain after ramming into him were totally fabricated.
