Getting the Most Out of a Small Galaxy: The S23 Plus Power-Anomalous Smartphone at Best Buy, Amazon, and Best Buy

The large-sized Galaxy S23 Plus costs almost triple the price of its predecessors and comes in all of the same colors. Like the standard S23, preordering the larger 6.6-inch Plus model before it launches on the 17th will get you a free storage upgrade, allowing you to make the jump to the 512GB model (which is the highest-end configuration of the S23 Plus). Preorders are available at Best Buy and Amazon. Preordering from Amazon will net you a gift card of $100 while purchasing from SAMSUNG will give you a $150 credit.

The S23 may be the smallest and cheapest of this new class, but its larger battery and new processor are hoping to quell the power-hungry habits of last year’s S22. If you don’t want a phone that’s way too big (but, like, a little big is okay), then this is likely the one to choose.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra, Ultra, and Other Two-Prototype All-Atom Utilities with the Same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU

The special offer is for Gear readers, and they can get a one-year Subscription to WIRED for $5. This also includes access to WIRED.com and our print magazine. Every day, the work we do is funded by subscriptions.

The Galaxy S23 series have a similar design philosophy throughout all three devices, though the Ultra stands out for its squared edges. All of them have the same AMOLED screens with 120-hertz screen refresh rates, in-display fingerprint sensors, and are well-equipped for 5G and wi-fi. They’re made of aluminum, and the glass protecting the screen and the rear is Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass Victus 2. You can get them all in Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender, and you’ll find Lime, Graphite, Sky Blue, and Red color options if you buy them directly at Samsung.com.

The phones are powered by the same processor as the US version, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 fromQualcomm. The “for Galaxy” moniker indicates that the chips have a slightly higher clock speed than the base Snapdragon chips, so they’re a bit faster, and there are additional optimizations to make them more efficient. The new cooling chamber is two times larger and should keep the phone cooler when playing extended sessions. Camera-wise, all three models share the same 12-megapixel ultrawide, a similar 3X optical telephoto camera, and a new 12-megapixel selfie cam.
