Preordering the M3-powered MacBook Airs: Up to 60 percent faster than the M1 MacBook Air, and upgrade options for the 15-inch Air, 15, and 16-inch models
According to Apple, the M3-powered MacBook Airs are “up to 60 percent faster” than the now-discontinued M1 MacBook Air, which is a claim we’ve yet to test. The laptops feature an improved Neural Engine that is capable of running artificial intelligence models, along with hardware accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading. They also have a Liquid retina display and MagSafe charging, as well as the two Thunderbolt ports.
Most upgraded MacBooks come with a 35 watt dual-port charging or 70 watt power amplifier, while the bases-level 13-inch MacBooks only come with a 30 watt power amplifier. For $20, you can upgrade the 256GB storage version to a 35W dual-port adapter or 70W adapter. Upgrading to a more powerful option is worth it, as it was our experience before that of the 2022 13-inch.
If you want more storage, you can get a 15-inch Air with a starting price of $1,699, 1 terabytes of storage for $1,899, and 2 terabytes of storage for $2,299. The 15-inch model can be purchased with 512Gig of storage, with a price of $2,499, or with 1 Terabyte of storage, with a price of $2,099.
Along with the GPU upgrades, both laptops support up to two external displays when closed. They are also more futureproof and support faster download speeds, and in four colors: starlight, space gray, silver, and midnight. The anodization seal on the latter shade should decrease fingerprints, something that has been a problem with the previous midnight models.
Like the 13-inch Air, the base 15-inch Air is available for preorder from Apple starting at $1,299 with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage; it comes with your choice of a 35W dual-port adapter or 70W adapter. You can also buy the 8GB RAM base model with an upgraded 512GB of storage for $1,499, 1TB of storage for $1,699, or 2TB of storage for $2,099.

While the days are getting brighter, spring isn’t set to arrive for another few weeks. Given we’re still dealing with storms in “sunny” Southern California, I’m going to venture a guess that it probably doesn’t feel like winter’s almost over where most of our readers live, either. Thankfully, Amazon’s Smart Thermostat is on sale right now at Amazon for $59.99 ($20 off), its lowest price in nearly three months and the best deal we’ve seen outside of Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day.
The Amazon Smart Thermostat works with Resideo, and allows you to control the temperature of your home through voice controls and an app.
