The costliest disaster in the U.S. history could be fires, says the governor of California

Anaheim Firefights in Los Angeles County: Evacuation Warnings for 10 Million Angelenos last week and Search-and-Recovery for More

At least 153,000 people have been forced to evacuate and another 166,000 people were under evacuation warnings as of Saturday, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. On Saturday, Los Angeles County officials said they had changed their alert and notification system to cooperate with the state’s alert center, as they investigate the cause of false evacuation alerts sent to 10 million Angelenos last week.

There are red flag warnings in effect starting Tuesday morning at 4 a.m. and lasting through 12 pm Wednesday.

While Los Angeles officials are making progress in fire containment and search-and-recovery efforts, more strong winds are expected across LA and Ventura counties over the next few days. Multiple fires continue to burn across areas ravaged by them, even as these dangerous conditions threaten to cause more fires.

The firefighters in Los Angeles are bracing for more Santa Ana winds as they fight multiple fires that have killed a number of people and destroyed thousands of structures.
