The Live Face of a Human: OpenAI’s OpenAI GPT-4o and its Upsilon-Emotional Proposal
ChatGPT adopted different emotional tones during the conversation and at times responded as if it were experiencing feelings of its own. An Openai employee said that he talked about how good the chatbot was, but it flirtatiously responded “Oh stop it, you are making me blush.”
We will be rolling out these capabilities to everyone within the next few weeks, according to Murati.
At a recent demonstration of the GPT-4o model, a research lead was shown a wooden table and misidentification of his face as that of a human by another person. Zoph asked the tool to take a look at the live video instead of the picture that he shared earlier, after a quick laugh, as he assured GPT-4o that he is not a table. After describing his facial expression and potential emotions, he said that that makes more sense.
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, wrote a post Monday about the significance of the new interface. It is still a bit surprising that it is real; it feels like an artificial intelligence from the movies. It turns out that getting to human-level responses and expressions turns out to be a big change.
To reiterate, you don’t need any kind of special subscription to start using the OpenAI GPT-4o model today. Just know that you’re rate limited to fewer prompts per hour than paid users, so make sure to be thoughtful about the questions you pose to the chatbot or you’ll quickly burn through your allotment of prompts.
Non-paying users got a major upgrade to their user experience, with many features that used to be only for paying customers. The GPT Store is now widely available, and anyone can easily release a custom version of the software. Users can use the memory feature and browse the web using the tool for free.
Although some of the exclusive features are being made available to non-paying users, the splashiest of updates are still available behind Openai’s paywall. The impressive voice mode that Zoph demonstrated on stage is arriving sometime over the next couple of weeks for ChatGPT Plus subscribers.
